Permeation (透過, Tōka) is the seventh episode of the anime Tokyo Ghoul √A.
Gang member Yuuma is arrested and tortured by Kijima in Cochlea. Sasaki visits Uta to learn more about the mask and Sen Takatsuki's book, who in turn lies about both of those things. Sasaki then asks him to make him a new mask.
Touka flees and just barely escapes the quinque's reach. At Anteiku, Kaneki worries about Hinami and covers her as she sleeps. A crash comes from the next room and he goes to find Touka injured. Yoshimura walks in and figures that Touka must have engaged with the investigators and refuses to give her medical attention.
Emotionally traumatized, Kaneki finally comes to a resolve to accept himself as a ghoul, and goes through a remarkable transformation both psychologically and physically. He escapes his shackles then mercilessly defeats Yamori. He pins Yamori to the ground and uses the same torture techniques on him.
Touka and Kaneki are close friends and lovers. They met when Kaneki had been turned into a ghoul and was hired to work at the cafe that Touka also worked at, which was a covert safe space for ghouls to exist. Their friendship started off negatively but gradually they grew closer and fell in love.
Kaneki always had a slight interest in Touka even before the whole spiral of events that brought them together. At that time, he just thought she was cute, but when she force-fed him human meat, he became more curious about her.
